Group of girls were playing at school when the knife was produced

An investigation has been launched after an 11-year-old girl brought a knife to a primary school. The incident occurred at Lingham Primary School in Moreton, Wirral, last Tuesday (25 March), and was reported to Merseyside Police at around 2.20pm.
The force has confirmed that a kitchen knife was seized and fortunately, no one was injured during the incident. Measures have been implemented to ensure the well-being and safety of all pupils.

According to reports, the incident arose when a group of girls were playing together, and one of them produced a knife that had been brought from home. The school authorities were subsequently informed and notified the police, reports the Liverpool Echo.
Wirral Local Policing Chief Inspector Dave Morgan stated: "We understand the concern that such incidents can cause, especially at one of our junior schools.
"Officers will remain in liaison with the school and our partners to offer reassurance to pupils, parents, carers and staff alike. In the meantime, should you have any information about young people carrying weapons, please come forward."
The knife was found and has been confiscated. No injuries were reported.
Suitable safeguarding measures have been implemented.
Lingham Primary School confirmed an incident on the specified day. The school stated that staff reacted appropriately and are undertaking all necessary actions.
Merseyside Police have requested anyone with information about young individuals carrying weapons to get in touch with the force via @MerpolCC on X, 101 or through Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111. Individuals should always dial 999 if a crime is currently taking place.
